Join us for a day filled with hot reads, relationship tips, and fun ideas to help you live your best life in the dog days of summer—and every day throughout the year. New York Times bestselling author Deborah Tannen reveals the unique language of female friends; the editors of Taste offer some home cooking and summer entertaining advice; and Lisa Damour, PhD, coaches adults on forming happier, healthier relationships with the teenagers in their lives. Plus, discover your next beach read (or three!) with the novels from our Summer Reading fiction panel. We’ll close out the day with a reception featuring Union Wine.

DEBORAH TANNEN is the acclaimed author of You Just Don’t Understand, which was on the New York Times bestseller list for nearly four years, the New York Times bestsellers You’re Wearing THAT? on mother-daughter communication and You Were Always Mom’s Favorite! About sisters, and many other books. A professor of linguistics at Georgetown University, Tannen appears frequently on national television and radio. She lives with her husband in the Washington, D.C. area.
LISA DAMOUR, PH.D., graduated with honors from Yale University, worked for the Yale Child Study Center, and then received her doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Michigan. She is the author of numerous academic papers related to education and child development. Dr. Damour directs Laurel School’s Center for Research on Girls, maintains a private psychotherapy practice, consults and speaks internationally, and is a faculty associate of the Schubert Center for Child Studies and a clinical instructor at Case Western Reserve University. She and her husband have two daughters and live in Shaker Heights, Ohio.
JANELLE BROWN is the author of All We Ever Wanted Was Everything and This Is Where We Live. An essayist and journalist, her writing has appeared in Vogue, The New York Times, Elle, Wired, Self, Los Angeles Times, Salon.com, and numerous other publications. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their two children.
