Random House Reader’s Circle Live!
with Martha Hall Kelly

Random House Book Club Event Featuring Martha Hall Kelly's
LILAC GIRLS

September 26, 2017 in New York, NY

Bring a friend or your book club for Random House Reader’s Circle Live! for the opportunity to meet with other book lovers to discuss Martha Hall Kelly’s New York Times bestseller, LILAC GIRLS. Held at our flagship office in New York City on Tuesday, September 26 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM.

Like every great book club gathering, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served as guests break out into small groups for discussions led by Random House staff. After the conversation, Martha will join the group to share her thoughts about the novel, her writing process, and how she used the lives of women in history to portray how the fates of women intersect across continents in the time of war. Martha will be interviewed by Allison Pataki, New York Times bestselling author of The Traitor’s Wife, The Accidental Empress, Sisi: Empress On Her Own and Where The Light Falls.

The $35 ticket price includes a trade paperback copy of LILAC GIRLS. The book will be delivered to your door prior to the event.

The Random House Reader’s Circle Live! series—held at the publisher’s flagship office in Manhattan—is a chance for readers to come together to discuss a novel provided by Random House. These lively literary gatherings offer guests exclusive access to a deeper conversation with fellow readers, as well as the chance to meet the author for more insight into their stories.

About Our Pick:

In LILAC GIRLS, Martha Hall Kelly’s first novel, the lives of three women are set on a collision course in World War II. Their stories cross continents—from New York to Paris, Germany, and Poland. New York socialite Caroline Ferriday has her hands full with her post at the French consulate and a new love on the horizon. But Caroline’s world is forever changed when Hitler’s army invades Poland in September 1939—and then sets its sights on France. An ocean away from Caroline, Kasia Kuzmerick, a Polish teenager, senses her carefree youth disappearing as she is drawn deeper into her role as courier for the underground resistance movement. And for the ambitious young German doctor Herta Oberheuser, an ad for a government medical position seems her ticket out of a desolate life. A remarkable novel of unsung women and their quest for love, freedom, and second chances, LILAC GIRLS is a story that will keep readers bonded with the characters, searching for the truth, until the final pages.
