Allie Merola joined Hogarth as Senior Editor in 2025 and acquires literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, memoir, essays, and criticism. Across genres, she is drawn to writers who are interested in challenging, entertaining, and surprising their readers. She began her career at Viking Penguin, where her publications included Rita Bullwinkel’s Headshot (longlisted for the Booker Prize; a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Fiction; and a New York Times Notable Book), m.s. RedCherries’ mother (a finalist for the 2024 National Book Award for Poetry), and Camille Peri’s A Wilder Shore (one of The Atlantic’s 10 Best Books of the Year and a New York Times Notable Book). She has worked with numerous bestselling and award-winning writers—including Terrance Hayes, Sarah Thankam Mathews, Zahra Hankir, Mona Awad, Rebecca Makkai, Phillip B. Williams, Alice Notley, Ruth Ozeki, Yuan Yang, Rebecca Solnit, Sunjeev Sahota, Geraldine Brooks, Bianca Bosker, Flynn Berry, and Alejandro Zambra—and formerly edited the Penguin Poets series.
