Maddie Caldwell is an Executive Editor at Random House, where she acquires primarily narrative nonfiction that offer unique takes on recent history and our contemporary life, especially cultural criticism, true crime, science, pop culture and investigative journalism, as well as the occasional novel. Prior to joining Random House, she was an editor at Grand Central Publishing for over a decade where acquired and edited bestsellers such as You Didn’t Hear This from Me by Kelsey McKinney; The Lost Tomb by Douglas Preston; We Keep the Dead Close by Becky Cooper; The Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe by Steven Novella; Seeing Ghosts by Kat Chow; Diminishing Returns by Hettie O’Brien; which received a Whiting Nonfiction Grant, and God Bless You, Otis Spunkmeyer by Joseph Earl Thomas; which was a finalist for the Carnegie and won the 2024 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize.
