In early 2019, Rachel Held Evans began jotting down words and ideas that she planned to turn into picture books about God and faith. Rachel’s hope was to create books that welcomed all kids to sit at God’s table, to ask big questions, and to know that they are God’s beloved.
After Rachel’s death, her husband Dan asked his friend, children’s book author Matthew Paul Turner, to finish the work Rachel had started.
The end result is What Is God Like?, out June 15. As we approach the book’s publication, we’re gathering a group of writers and friends of Rachel Held Evans to celebrate bringing this beautiful story across the finish line. This book is one of a kind: life-affirming, richly theological, and certain to inspire beautiful conversations.
Join us for a virtual Spiritual Thought celebration on Wednesday, June 16 at 8:00 pm ET, as Daniel Evans, Matthew Paul Turner, Sarah Bessey, Mike McHargue, and Kate Bowler gather to celebrate Rachel’s words and releasing this beautiful new children’s book out into the world.
