Gabby Colangelo

Editorial Assistant

Gabby Colangelo (she/they) is an Editorial Assistant to Kara Cesare, acquiring fiction and nonfiction. She is interested in commercial and upmarket fiction, especially romance and horror, or anything that uses old-school genre conventions in fresh ways. She’s drawn to sharp voices, unusual premises, and a grounded speculative twist. In horror, she loves a maximalist sensibility that offers a surprising look at social or cultural issues. Her dream romance projects are spicy, angsty, and compulsively readable. Gabby is always excited to work with queer and system-impacted writers on both fiction and nonfiction projects. She earned a BA in English from Yale and a MPhil in Gender Studies from Cambridge. Before joining Ballantine in 2024, Gabby worked for a nonprofit planning literary events in prisons and as an archival producer for various public humanities and journalism institutions, including the New York Times.
