Kate Gomer (she/her) is an editorial assistant to Jennifer Hershey at Ballantine Bantam Dell. She is primarily interested in upmarket and literary fiction, and she’s drawn to novels that are character-driven, emotionally rich, atmospheric, and suspenseful. She has a particular love for translations and nature-filled settings that immerse readers in unknown places, and she possesses a soft spot for fiction that explores belief systems (religions, mythologies, cults, etc.) and anything involving food or humor. Prior to joining the team in 2024, Kate attended the Columbia Publishing Course at Oxford after graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in religious studies.
